Fort Bend ISD is offering opportunities and resources for families affected by the government shutdown. JOB OPPORTUNITIES Fort Bend ISD’s Human Resources department is inviting furloughed employees to apply for various positions in Fort Bend ISD. The district currently has more than 80 job openings for full-time, part-time and temporary positions. They are hiring immediately for substitute positions. Substitute teacher pay begins at $85 a day for individuals who have a high school diploma and a minimum of 60 college hours. Please apply now as the substitute posting closes on Friday, Jan. 25. HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICES Fort Bend ISD campuses are equipped to provide support for students and families who are experiencing hardship due to the federal government shut down or any other reason. Counselors and social workers are able to connect families with resources and additional information to assist on a temporary or long-term basis. Parents are encouraged to reach out to their student’s teachers, campus administrators and/or the campus counselor/s for support, including emotional support for students. EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EAP) Fort Bend ISD provides FBISD employees and their family access to an employee assistance program through Alliance Work Partners. This program is paid for by FBISD and many of the services, such as face-to-face counseling sessions and phone consultations for legal and financial will not cost you anything. FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH SERVICES Fort Bend ISD Child Nutrition participates in the federal funded free and reduced lunch program. The program requires parents to complete an application and is based on financial need. Individuals who are currently impacted by the government shutdown are encouraged to apply for benefits for their children. Tap here to access the online free and reduced lunch application. Once the application is completed and approved, a student can begin to receive free and/or reduced lunch and stay on the program for the duration of the school year.
